Night Vision

The definition of night vision is basically the ability to see in a dark environment. Night vision is possible by a combination of two approaches: either by sufficient spectral range, or by sufficient intensity range. This can be done with binoculars made for such a purpose. These types of binoculars have a large diameter objective. It is with large lenses a binocular can gather and concentrate light better, and thus intensifying light with purely optical means. This leads to the user being able to see better in the dark, much better than the naked eye alone would do. Night vision binoculars also often have a large exit pupil of about 7mm.
During the Second World War night glasses had a 56mm lens diameter, and with a magnification of seven or eight. Night binoculars were in fact the first and only method of night vision, before the introduction of image intensifiers. Below we have listed a great number of night vision binoculars.
