Celestron Telescopes

Celestron is a big company that makes and imports telescopes, microscopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, and accessories for basically all their products. Tom Johnson was the man that founded Celestron in 1960, and they made its name with their first commercial telescope, the Schmidt-Cassegrain, that was when they introduces the “C8” 8-inch telescope which was designed by Tom Johnson himself. Many years later Celestron has gone large scale on everything, and they are recognized by their telescopes with their matte orange tube trademark. Their models also have double-fork equatorial mount, and generally a compact design which many people like. Ever since Celestron was founded, Meade has been their chief rival all the way.
Like other manufacturers, Celestron telescopes have the option to use computerized locating of astronomical objects. In addition to having mounts that will aim themselves at any given object. More commonly this is called the “GoTo” function. The great thing about many computerized models, are of course that they can be connected to external computers, allowing them to be controlled by a third-party type of astronomy program. If that’s not enough you even can connect it to a GPS receiver, which can be useful for programming the telescope with its precise location and time, letting the telescope point more accurately.
